Daily and Weekly Meditations
Daily Prayer Morning Sessions: 4 AM - 7 AM
Weekly Zen Meditations: Saturdays 9 AM - 11 AM
This is the routine Zen meditation on Saturdays originated by Master Shin and the existing members of the original American Zen College. This routine is continued as a preservation of the spirit of American Zen College and Master Shin’s teaching of Zen.
On Saturdays, the meditation sessions are scheduled in the Buddha Hall from 9 AM to 11 AM, composed of three 40-minute sitting meditations with walking meditations during the break times. You may join just before any sitting meditation period begins (9 AM, 9:40 AM, 10:20 AM). After 11 AM, there is a dharma discussion conducted by the practitioners. We recommend all first-time visitors new to meditation to join our dharma discussion, where you may learn from the senior practitioners about fundamentals of Zen meditation, sitting, and breathing techniques. All practitioners are welcome to share your own meditation experiences and ask questions to the group.
You don’t have to make an appointment for the Saturday meditations. But please arrive at the above suggested times, and remember to wear loose, comfortable fitting clothes. Dress warm in winter.
Saturday meditations are free. But if you would like to participate on Saturday meditations and / or other activities regularly, please consider becoming a General Member of American Zen College to support us, and enjoy many benefits and discounts.
