Buddhist Sutras and Mantras Recitation Day Camp for Kids
12/26-12/31/2016 Daily 9 AM - 3:30 PM

Bring your kids to join our winter Buddhist sutras / mantras recitation camp! This camp will focus on the recitation and memorization of Buddhist sutras and mantras.

On the surface, it may seem that the effectiveness of teaching is limited by the extent of understanding. So, it may be thought, if we read difficult sutras or mantras, they will have no effect. And many adults may wonder, what's the benefit of reciting sutras and mantras, particularly for young kids who are unlikely to understand the meaning of the text at all? Well, if you hold such an opinion, it is because you do not fully understand the power and subtlety of the subconscious yet. The truth is, even though you may not grasp meaning with your conscious mind, you may understand very clearly with your subconscious. Or, if you do not get any conscious impression, you may already have a subconscious impression. Moreover, our conscious mind is influenced by our subconscious; and indeed, our subconscious operates absolute control over our character.

Reciting sutras / mantras daily can help both adults and kids relieve daily stress and let us be more calm, focused, and passionate. We the parents who understand the power of Buddhist sutras and mantras don't want to miss this opportunity of planting the seeds of englightenment into the subconscious of our kids!

Fun Workshop: Make Your Own Buddha Statue
9:30 AM - 12:00 PM, 12/28/2016

We believe that success and happiness in life depend on how much merit one has accumulated in the past. Therefore, it is wise to find out how to accumulate merit by creating the cause for success. You need to have accumulated a lot merit and be fortunate to achieve ultimate liberation and actualize bodhicitta.

Then why do we make Buddha statues? Because Buddha said, “there is not one single difference between making offerings to me now and in the future, with devotion, making offerings to my reflections. The merit is equal and the result is equal.” By making your own Buddha statue, you are taking the opportunity of making offerings to Buddha, and demonstrating your faith in Buddha, Dharma, and Sanga. Therefore, it is an opportunity to accumulate merit.

Welcome to join this fun activity! We will provide all tools, materials and instructions. You will make your own Buddha statue and bring home. Kids are welcome too!
